I operated sound for the entire Directors Festival and within that festival I was the sound designer of a Bullseye a 10 minute play. The story is of a trans man confronting his father after years of not talking. The two go back and fourh as the son requests for his father to validate his identity. The location of the play was in a bar in Pittsburg. My concept for the show was to make this bar a sports bar. Creating an ambience of a football game. Reflecting the masculinity and the idea of manliness. in context of the setting and 2 characters. This game would be a metaphor of the conversational battle that is occurring between the 2 characters. The father being represented as the winning team. The ending of the play where the son stabs the father is finished with the cries and sreams of a 50 year old transphobic man contrasted with the haunting cheers of a crowd and reporter during a touchdown. The father winning by being prideful and not acknowledging his son. But metaphorically showcasing that this is what winning looks like when your hateful.
