THEATRE ASPEN
A2 Pt.1
This was my 1st show with Theatre Aspen. It was an interesting system build process because the theatre is a tent. Alot of my job consisted of rigging loudspeakers, setting up a BNC based video system, and patching the amp & RF racks. I spent the run of the show in the booth operating the qlab system.
I think a big challenge in this process was was making do with what we had. The theatre provided us with what we needed but sometimes its the little thing. his lead me to hand making many Nl4 cable, Soldering XLR cables, and hand making ear rigs.

Jersey Boys
A2 Pt.2
The second Mainstage show that I worked on while at Theatre Aspen was Jersey Boys. I spent the entire show running backstage as the A2. One of my everyday tasks was checking in with the band. The theater/ sound crew provided the band with passive direct boxes. But a few of the band members brought their own personal direct boxes which were active. I made sure that they were given new batteries. We also added a Lavalier mic to the kick drum, it was my job to make sure this mic was receiving signals correctly in the same way I would for an actor. This show did not have many breaks for the actors so when there was an issue I was always running. To avoid this each of the jersey boys had 2 Lavalier mics, a main microphone and a backup. It allowed for us to quickly change between the 2 giving me time to fix the signal issue. But this meant that hiding the mic would be an even harder challenge especially because the actors would be wearing wigs. I have to say that of all the shows that I’ve been an A2 on, this one was the most hectic.

To kick off the summer season a cabaret performance, of all the gypsy songs, was done for the donors. For this performance I was backstage working the wireless mics and keeping an eye the RF station.
