After having my first production assignment, I was now a lot more confident going into the next. The next assignment forcing me to take on more responsibility because instead of having a crew of 5, this time there was only 2 of us. My A1 and me, the assistant sound designer. This meant that this was an all woman crew. I can not express how great of an experience this was. Because operas don't utilize microphones, the process of being on this show allowed me to learn the ends and outs of theatre com systems. Stevens Center having an 8 channel com system, which is amazing, but there was a downside. The house wiring in that building doesn't allow for easy patching into a wall plate to receive the com channel needed. There was an extra step of patching that would have to be done through a computer, on a software that resembled analog eq.
I also worked for the scenic run crew on this show. I helped out on the big set changes, giving my assistance so that everything could be changed in time.
